Jim Gatto is a Washington, D.C.-based partner in Sheppard Mullin’s Intellectual Property Practice Group. He is also Co-Leader of the firm’s Social Media and Games Industry Team.
Mr. Gatto leverages his unique combination of nearly 30 years of IP experience, business insights and attention to technology trends to help game companies of all sizes develop IP and other legal strategies that are aligned with their business objectives. His practice focuses on all aspects of intellectual property, internet and technology law, including patent, trademark, copyright, trade secret and open source.
Mr. Gatto is an active thought leader in the games industry, having presented at numerous industry-focused conferences and authored various articles on legal issues and considerations in this arena, including AR/VR, gamification and serious games. He is a frequent contributor to the firm’s Law of the Level blog. Mr. Gatto is also an advisor to the Virginia Serious Games Institute (VSGI).
