Biography

Eva den Heijer is a visual artist, game designer and senior lecturer and course leader at HKU University School of the Arts Utrecht, the Netherlands.

Since 2004 Eva den Heijer has a practice as a visual artist. In this practice she examines inside the two-dimensional domain the way we perceive the world around us and how form and meaning are established. Parallel to this practice, she also designs applied games.

In 2013 she graduated with a Master’s degree in Art Education from HKU University of the Arts Utrecht, where she was introduced to ‘Ludodidactics’ and graduated with a game Tell your ARTtale, designed to be played in museums for Contemporary and Fine Art. Also in this game, the way we perceive art and how we give meaning to it is key.

Currently, next to this practice, she is Course Leader of the Associate Degree “Connected Spaces” at HKU University of the Arts Utrecht School of Design. She obtained a Teaching Fellowship to design and develop the method presented in this session, and she teaches Ludodidactics at HKU University of the Arts Utrecht – Master of Education in Arts.
