About
Our Origin Story
The Serious Play Conference emerged from the primordial mists in 2006 through the visionary stewardship of founder Sue Bohle. Since then, the annual conference has cultivated an international community of practitioners who seek to leverage the power of games and play to teach, learn and change the world. In 2023, Sue Bohle announced her retirement, passing the event’s stewardship to Dr. Paul Darvasi and Elisa Navarro Chinchilla. Driven by a shared belief in the transformative potential of games and simulations, Darvasi and Navarro lead a passionate team dedicated to nurturing and expanding Serious Play’s global community while ushering in a new era of ideas, innovation, community, and, of course, fun.
Our Mission
We aim to empower our growing community to tap into the transformative power of play, games and simulations to carry out meaningful learning, training, knowledge mobilization, and to address real-world challenges. Together, we will learn, create, and innovate for a better future.
Our Community
Our community derives from diverse fields including K-12, higher education, healthcare, game development, government, military, heritage, cultures, and business. The event is a rare opportunity for professionals from all walks of life with shared passions and interests to exchange ideas, facilitate cross-industry networking & collaboration, learn new skills, and keep up with the latest trends.
